- CBC reporter, after an audio story reporting the peaceful demonstration of cyclists in an intersection being advanced on by riot police was shown with b-roll of a physical confrontation between anarchists and police.
thanks, tips.
Demonstrators active on the streets of Toronto today - 30,000
Violent Protestors - a fraction of that number, your standard ‘anarchy now’ cabal, thrill seekers and angry young men.CBC’s Protest Coverage Strategy - Steadycam shots of legions of riot police, B roll of isolated incidents of violence (a rock being thrown, a immolated car), and ceaseless commentary on the ability of the police to “control” the situation, coupled with admissions that most of the mass didn’t cross the line into criminality.
Lingering Suspicion that a government that has before justified the use of ‘Agents provocateur’ might once again be satisfied with the amount of violence being created as a means of equating dissent with terrorist anarchy, and may be partially responsible for the escalation, given they’ve budgeted $1b in security (where the previous two G20 summits had a total security bill of $25m) - substantial.
!
and i was so hoping to graduate this year.
Scientists from Instituto Astrofiscia de Canarias and the University of Texas have detected the presence of of the most complex organic molecule yet found in interstellar space, anthracene. The molecules are in a dense cloud about 700 light years from the Sun.
Molecules like athracene are prebiotic, and when combined with ultraviolet radiation, water and ammonia they could produce amino acids and other compounds essential for the development of life.
Two years ago another organic molecule, naphtalene, was identified in the same place. The thinking is that the scientists have found a star formation region rich in prebiotic chemistry. These findings suggest that a good part of the key components of Earth’s prebiotic chemistry could be present in interstellar matter.
